Default Metal Gear Solid 4 + Online

MGS4 will make its way to your Playstation 3 on June 12th. How many of you out there are as excited as I am? The game will finally commence the story where Sons of Liberty left off, and it is said to be the final chapter of Solid Snake's epic saga. As if that were not reason enough to rush to your local game store, the brand new definitive version of Metal Gear Online will also be included. For those who had an opportunity to experience the short lived Subsistence Online mode, consider that a test model for things to come. Sony is paying for the server for GotP online, and rumor has it they are planning to keep it up for the next 10 years. Joygasm.

I simply cannot WAIT! I have it pre-ordered and am looking forward to seeing how good a job Kojima will do with tying up the loose ends. (There are quite a few of those) I'm also looking forward to some new gameplay elements, not to mention the multiplayer, it looks absolutely MAD!

I believe Ive stumbled upon the secret of The Patriots. Ill start by stating a few facts about the series.

- The Boss' dream was to see a world united in peace. (MGS3)

- The Patriots were formed with the goal of making The Boss' dream, a reality. (MPO)

- Big Boss' refused to live his life the way The Boss' did. (MPO)

- The Patriots were behind the Les Enfant Terrible Project (MPO)

Now lets take a step back, and recall Snakes cursed fate. Big Boss stated that whoever won the fight would be forced to continue on a path of endless battle, until death. Vulcan Raven also said that the path Snake walks has no end, and he will never be free of battle, until death.

Fate, and destiny are often mistakenly considered to be the same. They are not. We all have an ultimate destination in life. This is our destiny. Fate is the path that is created for us through circumstances. This is interesting, because Naomi makes a rather confusing statement in one of the MGS4 trailers.

"Snake, if you wont be a prisoner to fate, then go. Fulfill your destiny."

So we know Snakes fate. To walk an endless path of war, until he dies on the battlefield. Simple as pie.

But what about his destiny? Solid Snake is indeed the true hero of the Metal Gear series. We continuously hear him doubt himself, however. "Im no hero, I never was." But Snake is the hero, and in MGS4, the final chapter, he will finally realize this destiny.

In MGS2, in reference to his own alleged death, Snake says, "No, not yet. Ive still got too many things left to do."

So I theorize that Solid Snake will escape the bonds of fate, and the curse of his father, and fulfill his destiny, bringing peace, and uniting the world.

But in fulfilling this destiny, he will now no longer have a reason to live. He was born for the very purpose of being a soldier. He will now be free to die. In accompishing his mission, he will void his own reason to exist. Its very poetic really.

But the very interesting part is that seemingly, he will accompish the original goal of The Patriots!

We know that Ocelot took part in their forming, and wanted Big Boss to join them. But Big Boss didnt desire to follow The Boss' path. Instead, he wanted a nation by soldiers, for soldiers. Outer Heaven. Ocelot wanted Big Boss to join them, but he had his own goals. He own ideals. What if the clones were created for the very purpose of fulfilling the mission that Big Boss himself, refused?

Liquid followed Big Boss' path, and so did Solidus. But Solid Snake fought against Outer Heaven. In actuality, he was doing The Patriots work without even being aware.

Its very difficult for me to organize all these thoughts, but hopefully they wont be too confusing.

Pre-ordered the Limited Edition version. And got into the Japanese MGO beta which starts on April 21st (although the actual download for the beta opens on the 14th).

I'm so going to get tons of videos and screenshots. =D

MGS is ghey. I rented MGS2 once, and I just hated it and never enjoyed it at all. So I've never gave another one in the series a chance.

I can see how it might have that effect on you under those circumstances. For one thing, what makes MGS great is the characters, the plot twists, and the wacky storyline. Without prior knowledge of some of those things, MGS2 would be widely boring for about the first 30 minutes. Then by the time the plot begins to unravel, and it starts getting good, youd just be totally confused.

I played MGS1 on the Playstation back in 98, and at the time I had no idea that MG and MG2 even existed. So I found myself a tad bit confused when they talked about Zanzibar, Gray Fox, and certain other things. But nonetheless I loved the game. It was a couple years later when I saw MG1 on NES sitting on the shelf in a local Gamestop, and I was like HOLY SHIT! At that point I began looking into these games on the internet. Never actually got around to playing them until about a year before MGS3 came out. I found a ROM and played both of the original titles on an MSX emulator.

But yea, basically, MGS2 has the wackiest storyline of all, so without having at least played MGS1, youd be lost.

If its the gameplay that doesnt interest you, all I can say is, to each their own.
