Puh.. Where are you now? Directly at the beginning? As far as i remember you first go into a side street and down some steps and the world changes for the first time. you get attacked and wake up in a local cafe of some sorts. The game starts. Cheryl leaves notes in Silent Hill how to find her.

Play arround, its much more fun to find things out by yourself.

Yeah, one of the first places you go to is the school. It's quite easy to get lost so always follow the maps.

And I hate the hospital portion of every Silent Hill game. They're just so confusing and boring.

The hospital indeed was very foncusing, but imo that adds to the atmosphere. I never found it annoying, it made me nervous and the disturbing nurses dont help either to feel comfortable. that rocks

I remember the original, scared the hell outta me. I seen a copy of it at a car boot sale and was tempted. But I didnt buy it because I would probably not get time to play, that is if it worked at all.

Hum, this is a hard one for me. 1 was awesome for setting the tone of the series, but I like 2 the best because the graphics more accurately portrayed what the creators were going for in the visual mind freak sense of the game. Sadly, I still have not played 3 so I can't really comment on it.

While most people will disagree, the SCARIEST was 4. The reason is simple. The SH games build fear based on atmosphere more than quick scares(RE). Now when I played 4, I had just moved into a solo apartment for the first time in my life and it was structured nearly identical to "The Room". Since SH is a mind trip to begin with, playing 4 seriously messed with my head at times. After playing for a good bit, I had to leave my apartment just to remind myself I didn't have to leave through a hole in the wall.

Me and a friend completed Silent Hill 1, and it really spooked us, just the atmosphere was bad enough.

Then the nurses in the hospital. And how you'd go into a place, come out and the area had changed.

I dont own the original anymore as i got rid of most of my Ps1 games when it broke, but its definately one id like to buy back just to put on the shelf with all the Sequels.

Back on topic now i've rambled, the original Silent Hill is definately my favourite in the lot, So far.

Yea silent hill 1 was the best. When the school turns demonic it is so freaky with the grated floors, blood and limbs and the pentagram in the courtyard. I beat this game the first time i played it back in 99/00 with no guide or anything. Took me like 7 hours lol.

I gotta say that the story of Silent Hill Origins really was pretty good. Even though it didn't answer what it said it would answer. that said, I feel that SH2 was the best of the series. the first one was great but 2 improved on the story and the gameplay (though the gameplay is quite similar). also pyramid head was an excellent advisary.

I should really get Origins now that its out for PS2. I've played the SH games until SH3 and that was the closure sadly. Not that the games got worse, but the sequels just didnt give me thrills comparable to the first two Silent Hill attempts.

The generation change with 5 should hopefully change things. Still, i think Silent Hill will never be the same anymore for me, so is the RE series.
